SINOPSIS

Emilia (Natalie Portman) es una licenciada en Derecho por la Universidad de Harvard que se acaba de casar con Jack (Scott Cohen), un importante abogado neoyorquino que era su jefe (y que estaba casado) cuando ella empezó a trabajar en su bufete. Desgraciadamente, la vida de Emilia da un vuelco inesperado cuando Jack y ella pierden a su hija recién nacida. Emilia se esfuerza, a pesar de su duelo, por conectar con su nuevo hijastro William (Charlie Tahan), pero le cuesta entenderse con el precoz niño. También está intentando superar un prolongado distanciamiento en la relación con su padre debido a la infidelidad de él. Pero probablemente lo más difícil para Emilia sea lidiar con las constantes intromisiones de la celosa y furiosa ex-mujer de su marido, Carolyn (Lisa Kudrow).
Sin embargo, su divertido y en ocasiones entrañable tira y afloja con William ayuda a Emilia a abrir su corazón. ¿Redescubrirá su propia capacidad de amar a tiempo de salvar su maltrecho matrimonio, tender lazos con sus padres y construir una familia con los restos del naufragio?
